My Profile Summary - Please contact me for an up-to-date copy of my resume:
I qualified as a physiotherapist 20 years ago, and specialised in musculoskeletal physiotherapy after 2 years of junior rotations. I worked in a busy NHS outpatient department until 5 years ago and worked my way up to a Band 7 position, in charge of the lower limb/sports injuries section of outpatients, but also continuing to treat upper limb and spinal conditions. I also developed outpatient services in 2 other locations in the trust, working with and managing junior staff in bringing the waiting list down from 3 months to 2 weeks in the space of 2 months at one of these locations. I co-developed a successful orthopaedic triage service, completed audits, and regularly supervised and taught students, junior and Band 6 staff during this time also. I was also moving and handling key worker for the department.
Over the last 5 years I have been working in the private sector completing work capability assessments on behalf of the department for work and pensions, involving face to face functional assessments of individuals with physical and mental health problems, and completing detailed reports which are used to aid the department for work and pensions in making decisions about individuals ability to work.
During my 5 years in this role I have trained in completing audit of other HCPs reports, giving telephone advice to other HCPs around reports, filework - involving the processing and decision making with paper files, and Stage 3 - supervising new HCPs in the role. I gained a promotion to CSL for Doncaster (Clinical Standards Lead) in February 2018 and am responsible for leading and maintaining quality within the team.
I have developed excellent manual therapy and rehabilitation skills during my extensive experience as a physiotherapist and am qualified to practice acupuncture. I am reliable and always work hard to ensure the best possible outcome for every patient. I am always keen to learn and practice new skills and approaches, but also enjoy teaching junior staff members, and passing on my own knowledge and skills to others.
I have excellent communication skills both verbally and through written reports, especially due to my experience in orthopaedic triage, working with local GPs and orthopaedic consultants and through my recent work completing reports for the department for work and pensions.
