My Profile Summary
Please contact me for an up-to-date copy of my resume:
I am an MSc Physiotherapy student at the University of Cumbria with a strong academic foundation in Sport and Exercise Science and a particular interest in musculoskeletal and sports rehabilitation. My experience combines clinical physiotherapy training with practical involvement in rugby performance environments, enabling me to approach rehabilitation from both a clinical and athletic performance perspective. During my musculoskeletal outpatient placement, I independently managed a full caseload of patients presenting with acute and chronic injuries. I conducted comprehensive subjective and objective assessments, identified key biomechanical contributors to dysfunction, and developed progressive, strength-based rehabilitation programmes. I regularly applied graded loading principles and objective outcome measures to guide rehabilitation and monitor patient progress. This experience strengthened my clinical reasoning and reinforced the importance of clear communication, patient education and structured rehabilitation planning. I have also gained experience in neuro and community rehabilitation settings, working within multidisciplinary teams to support individuals with complex physical and functional needs. Through this, I developed a strong appreciation of holistic, patient-centred care and the importance of collaborative practice when supporting patients through rehabilitation and functional recovery. Alongside my clinical training, I bring extensive experience within rugby performance environments. I have worked as a Strength and Conditioning Assistant with RAF Women’s Rugby Union and held coaching roles with Oxford Brookes University and Oxford Harlequins. These roles involved delivering strength and conditioning sessions, supporting athlete development and monitoring performance progression. Through this work I developed a strong understanding of rugby injury mechanisms, training load management and the physical demands placed on athletes during training and competition. This sporting background enhances my physiotherapy practice by allowing me to integrate strength and conditioning principles into rehabilitation. I am confident designing progressive strength-based rehabilitation programmes incorporating proprioception, neuromuscular control and sport-specific conditioning. I also understand the importance of structured return-to-play planning that restores physical capacity while minimising reinjury risk and ensuring safe progression back to performance. My experience in coaching and performance environments has also developed strong communication and leadership skills. I am comfortable working in fast-paced settings, communicating effectively with athletes, colleagues and multidisciplinary teams, and maintaining calm decision-making under pressure. I value building trust with patients and supporting them to actively engage in their rehabilitation. I am highly motivated to continue developing as a physiotherapist and expanding my expertise in musculoskeletal and sports rehabilitation. My goal is to help individuals recover from injury, regain confidence in their physical ability and return safely to the activities that matter most to them. With a strong foundation in physiotherapy, a performance-focused mindset and a commitment to professional development, I am confident I would make a positive contribution to a physiotherapy team.
