SUPPORTING INFORMATION
I have been working as a Physiotherapist for the last 15 years. Majority of my work has revolved around the Cardiac, Respiratory and musculoskeletal patients. I am very well versed with the working environment in the UK , as I did my cardiac rehabilitation placement in Countess of Chester hospital, Chester and worked as a Physiotherapist in the UK and India.
My recent NHS experience (6 years) has given me a broad perspective of working in the NHS, complying with the NHS , HCPC and CSP guidelines. I work closely with a Multidisciplinary team of Physiotherapists, Occupational therapists, nurses, social workers, and GP. My job role is to plan, organise and prioritise own client case-load, and to organise and manage the appropriate delegation of client care/work to the Junior physiotherapists and students. I have Band 7 NHS Physiotherapy experience. We jointly/ individually do Physiotherapy assessment, ED-5 questionnaire, Tier 2, manual handling forms and develop a comprehensive treatment plan accordingly. I am actively participating in in-service training by attending and delivering presentations/training sessions at staff meetings.
My experience has given me an in depth understanding that regular exercise can prevent post trauma complications, elevate mood, increase self-esteem and create a general feeling of well-being. Physiotherapist’s role is to encourage the patients to take an active role in helping themselves to maximise their independence.
I am an internationally certified Yoga therapist, RYT-800. I have learned traditional yoga from Kerala and Rishikesh, India, which has broadened my understanding of importance of stress management. I have got astonishing results with a combination of physiotherapy and yoga therapy in my treatment protocols. I have eventually developed a positive approach to connect with patients, and adapt myself to my team's work patterns.
I maintain my own continuing professional development by keeping up to date with new trends and developments through specialist clinical interest groups, peer reviews and research, and incorporating them into practice.
I can demonstrate a high level of clinical knowledge across a broad spectrum of physiotherapeutic specialities (e.g. cardiac, neurological, respiratory, and musculoskeletal) to reflect the broad sweep of clinical conditions encountered with clients. I am professionally accountable for the planning and delivery of physiotherapy within the outpatient unit ,prioritising clinical needs to provide an effective service. I am organising and promoting evidence based practice within the specific area of service.
Many thanks,
Pallavi Dodia,
Specialist Physiotherapist
