SPINAL MANIPULATION (GRADE V)

This one-day course gives you the practical skills you need to safely and effectively perform lumbar and thoracic spinal manipulation (grade V) techniques. Indications, precautions, and contraindications are discussed. Case studies are used to illustrate selection of techniques and develop your clinical reasoning. The evidence underpinning high velocity thrust techniques for back and neck pain is presented. The number of participants is limited to 12 to ensure a high level of supervision and feedback. Presenter: Neil Bowler is a Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and Fellow of the Australian College of Physiotherapists. He works in private practice in Perth, Western Australia. His clinical and post-graduate teaching experience extends over 40 years. Neil has a Post Graduate Diploma in Manipulative Therapy and Post Graduate Diploma in Sports Physiotherapy from Curtin University in Western Australia. He was awarded a Master of Science in Manipulative Therapy in 2009. Course Content: • Relevant anatomy & biomechanics • Manipulation background & theory • Lumbar spine passive testing & grade V techniques • Thoracic spine passive testing & grade V techniques • Case studies & Evidence Audience: This course introduces you to grade V manipulation and is aimed at physiotherapists with basic manual therapy skills.
