Junior Physiotherapist (equivalent NHS Band 5)

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join our dynamic team at the Berkshire MS Therapy Centre providing Physiotherapy within the voluntary sector. We are looking for a qualified physiotherapist (NHS Band 5 equivalent) to join our team and contribute to all aspects of the service delivering high quality, person-centred treatment to people with Multiple Sclerosis. Main Purpose of the Role: The post holder will provide physiotherapy assessment, treatment and advice to clients attending the Berkshire MS Therapy Centre (BMSTC). They will work as an autonomous practitioner within the professional guidelines set out by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) and the policies and procedures set out by the BMSTC. Main Duties & Responsibilities • To undertake assessments of patients, using standardised assessments and outcome measures. • To use clinical reasoning to formulate and deliver individual treatment programmes based on evidence-based practice and a range of treatment skills. • Evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and modify accordingly with the guidance of senior staff. • To be accountable for managing own caseload. • Take part in the provision of group exercise sessions, including online classes. • To be professionally and legally responsible and accountable for all aspects of your own work, acting at all times in accordance with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) Code of Conduct. • To delegate tasks to assistants and monitor/review treatments as required • To keep the patient at the centre of his or her care, ensuring patient and carer participation in decision making • To provide advice and training on treatment programmes and safe manual handling to patients, carers and relatives as appropriate, to ensure good patient care. • To work collaboratively with members of the NHS, CCG’s and other agencies when necessary to promote inter- agency working and best patient care. Communication and Documentation • To be responsible for maintaining timely and accurate patient records in accordance with the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy Standards. • To prepare and submit timely and accurate reports to other healthcare professionals or relevant agencies where appropriate. • To be able to motivate and engage patients to take full advantage of physiotherapy intervention. • Communicate effectively with staff, patients, carers and colleagues. • To participate in the collection of clients attendance data. Education, Training and Supervision • To expand clinical and professional knowledge in order to develop informed professional expertise, using a variety of means including: self-directed study, in-service training, attending relevant courses, observation and joint working with senior physiotherapists. • To be responsible for maintaining own competency to practice through CPD activities and for maintaining a CPD portfolio. • Attend all mandatory training as required by BMSTC. • Help facilitate and participate in regular in-service training sessions. • To support the provision of an effective learning environment. • Participate in peer reviews sessions with all BMSTC physiotherapy staff. • Participate in clinical teaching and supervision sessions with senior staff. • Participate in the staff appraisal system and be responsible for complying with your agreed personal development programme. • To assist senior therapists supervise physiotherapy assistants and work experience students.
