About this position: As part of the Occupational Therapy service, you will work in the General Ward and/or community, based from Bay of Islands Hospital. The role is varied and work crosses between assessment and rehabilitation to help older people and people with complex disabilities to remain independent in their own homes. . You will be part of an multi-disciplinary team working in partnership with General Practices and other providers to come up with creative solutions for complex situations. Accreditation for Occupational Therapy in personal care and household management is preferred. Training and support to obtain these areas of accreditation can be provided if required. A genuine interest in working towards these accreditations areas of accreditation is essential. This position provides variety and the opportunity to develop not only Occupational Therapy specific skills, but also skills that may cross traditional disciplinary boundaries by adopting an inter professional approach. Working in a rural environment provides ample opportunity for problem solving and skill development in a broad range of clinical areas. You will have at least two years post-qualification experience, NZ registration in Occupational Therapy, a current practicing certificate and a range of generalist and specialist skills. Additionally, you will bring the following: • Comprehensive clinical assessment and problem-solving skills. • The ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, to develop positive interpersonal relationships, and work flexibly within the inter-disciplinary team, with a team player attitude. • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills • Strong clinical reasoning skills and use of evidence informed practice. • Effective time management and organisational skills. • Strong prioritisation skills and experience with complex discharge planning. • Full clean drivers' licence. • Complex Housing and Level 1 Wheelchair Enable accreditation are preferred, but not essential as support to complete the accreditation process will be given to the successful candidate. You will also be adaptable to change, resourceful and flexible to service needs, and will have a genuine passion for working with patients in the community on their health journey.
