Role title The Pain Management Centre at Burwood Hospital is a tertiary service looking for an NZ Registered Physiotherapist who is motivated by challenging and fascinating work with complex patients experiencing chronic pain. We work within a large interdisciplinary team of Doctors, Clinical Psychologists, Occupational Therapists, Nurses and Social Workers. We carry out interdisciplinary Comprehensive Pain Assessments and formulate patient centred treatment programs that may be delivered via individual or group programs. Our client base is wide ranging in age and type of pain conditions, often with coexisting although not exclusive issues such as FND. Success results from consistent messages and practise of evidence based self-management strategies using a socio-psycho-bio-medical model of care. Physiotherapists focus on addressing pain beliefs and fear avoidance, enabling reengagement in life and productive activity. Working within this team provides opportunity to grow practise at extended skill level with professional supervision and mentoring. This is a full-time (40hr per week), role working Monday to Friday 0800-1630. Some after-hours work is a requirement of the role.
