I graduated from The University of Lahore, Pakistan where I achieved bachelor’s degree in Physical therapy with 1600 clinical hours in whole program. During my physical therapy degree, I was fortunate enough to gain experience in different teaching hospitals. I gained clinical knowledge in following departments: OPD, Cardio-pulmonary, Musculoskeletal, Rheumatology, Pediatrics, Gynae/obs., Orthopedic surgery, General surgery, General medicine, Neurosurgery and Intensive care unit.
My experience during internship at University of Lahore Teaching Hospital and observer ship at Lahore College of Physical Therapy helped me develop essential skills, including ability to assess and diagnose various musculoskeletal conditions, create individually tailored treatments and safety protocols for the treatment. Additionally, I improved my communication with patients and colleagues.
As a Physiotherapist at Mid City Medical Centre, I came across many conditions and treated them with my full attention and capability including musculoskeletal, Neurological, sports injuries, pediatric and orthopedic disorders as well.
The skills and qualities I possess include an ability to always put patients first in everything I do whilst providing safe, effective and appropriate treatment and care. I am able to embrace change positively and adapt to it on a regular basis. Finally, I will always take responsibility within my role for maintaining competence through a process of continuous learning, improvement and development.
Over the years, I have gained considerable work and life experience that are a match for the job description. For example, in my job role I had to manage most of the department duties by:
• Evaluating the patient’s signs and symptoms, performing special tests to confirm the diagnosis
• Identifying patient service requirements by establishing a personal rapport with potential and actual patients and other persons in a position to understand service requirements
• Developing the treatment plans for each condition, and communicating it to patient.
• Documenting medical history, complaints and treatment plan of patients to ensure complete and safe deliverance of treatment.
• Ensures operation of physiotherapy equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer’s instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques
• Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations. Gains patient cooperation by reducing anxieties, providing explanations of treatment, and answering questions.
• Liaison with other health care specialists to improve performance
• Supervision of junior staff
I am capable of treating a range of disorders which limits the mobility and ADLs of patients. I treated the following cases:
• Musculoskeletal: Osteoarthritis knees (Bilateral), Post-immobilization complications in shoulder due to humerus fracture (conservatively managed), post-op rehabilitation due to immobilization (fixation by k-wires), Planter fasciitis, SI joint dysfunction,
• Cardio-pulmonary: Bronchiectasis, Asthma
• Orthopedic: Hemi-hip arthroplasty, Total knee replacement, Shoulder Instability
• Neurological: Multiple sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, Cerebral ataxia, spinal cord injury
• Spinal: Sciatica, Spinal stenosis, Kyphotic cervical/straightening
• Gynae: Pelvic floor dysfunction
• Pediatrics: Flat foot, Delayed milestone, Cerebral palsy
• Sports: ACL/PCL tear, MCL/LCL tear, Meniscus tears, Achilles tendon rupture, Tennis elbow, Golfer’s elbow
Well versed with manual therapy and manipulation of spine, joints as well as can handle the electrotherapy modalities including TENS, EMS, Ultrasound therapy. Well trained in mechanical traction for spine, I always try to provide safe, comfortable environment to patients.
