Providing Physiotherapy services has been one of the most rewarding things for me because it has provided a platform for being part of the reasons a lot of patients could smile again after being limited in their abilities to independently carry out their normal daily life activities. It is priceless. I would love to work in an environment that will afford me the opportunity to strive continually to provide the best Physiotherapy services at all times and collaborate with team members and other healthcare professionals to deliver exceptional care and one that will provide a platform for gaining more experience and knowledge.
QUALIFICATION AND REGISTRATION
I have a Bachelor’s degree in Physiotherapy. I am registered with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC). My licence number is PH122599. I am member of the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP), membership number 110007.
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
I have 3years’ worth of experience in the management of patients as a Physiotherapist. In my Internship year, I rotated through Musculoskeletal/Orthopaedics, Neurology/Neurosurgery, Geriartrics, Paediatrics, Sports, Oncology and Cardiorespiratory/burns units in Out-Patient, In-Patient and Community settings. I spent a year working as an intern in a Federal Teaching Hospital where I was supervised and guided by Senior Physiotherapists in the above stated units. I was also assigned to on-call duties. The following year, I worked as Physiotherapist in another state consisting of a majority of people who could not communicate in English, where I simultaneously managed Orthopaedic, Geriartric, Paediatric and Neurological conditions in both out-patient and in-patient settings. I spent another 6 months managing Orthopaedic, Sport-related, Paediatric, Geriartric and Neurological conditions in out-patient setting. I currently manage Orthopaedic, Neurological, Geriartric, Paediatric and Oncology related conditions out-patient setting; I manage in-patients in hospitals that require Physiotherapy services and also home services.
My approach to management is always patient-centered. Every tool at my disposal is used to the benefit of the patient. I employ the use of assessment scales and measuring tools during the assessment stages. After analysing my findings and arriving at a diagnosis, I plan specific, measurable, attainable, relevant and time-bound (SMART) treatment goals together with the patient to help restore the patient to his original physical function or close enough to enable him resume his normal daily activities at home, work, and other social environments, specific to each patient. I also function by encouraging and motivating patients in the course of management as it is important for them to carry out the necessary exercises and/or activities.
I can communicate orally, in written forms and through non-verbal cues to patients, patient carers or relatives, colleagues, and senior colleagues with clarity and without ambiguity
I am aware that having good interpersonal and relational skills generally improves the efficiency and effectiveness of patient management as they would be comfortable with disclosing all relevant information regarding their conditions as well as help them comply with instructions. As such I invest in establishing good rapport with them in the course of managing them. The same goes for team members and colleagues. I am always willing to get along with them as this will improve our productivity and help the organization maintain high level of stability because of unity.
I am computer literate. I can type at an average speed of 35WPM. I have some experience in the use of MS Word, Powerpoint, and a bit of Excel.
I am physically fit and have mental fortitude to enable me function optimally in varying conditions and always willing to develop the capacity to do so.
