I am a South African physiotherapist who is currently registered with the HPCSA and the SASP (South African Society of Physiotherapy). I am looking at relocating to the United Kingdom from June 2019. I have already registered with the HCPC; registration number: PH117356. I would be classified as a Band 6 physiotherapist.
I qualified in 2015 at the University of Kwa-Zulu Natal in Westville, Durban. I have 3 years of working experience, with this year being my 4th.
I have done a huge variety of post-graduate short courses; I'll list a few:
-Ultimate lower quadrant course: going Global (Tanya Bell)
-The Upper Quadrant course (Tanya Bell)
-The international Spinal cord Society: Physiotherapy management of spinal cord injuries (5 week online course)
-Upper limb kinesiology taping course, lower limb kinesiology taping course (Joyce Morton)

I have a special interest in musculoskeletal physiotherapy, and have done a post-grad certificate in Orthopaedic Manipulative Therapy (OMTC 2017). I am currently on the provincial committee (OMPTG KZN) and the General Executive Committee for South Africa (OMPTG GEC). I am assisting on the OMTC 2019 as a mentor and practical assistant.
I have a complete employment history. in 2016, I completed a year as a Community Service Physiotherapist where i was based in a rural hospital setting. I saw a large variety of conditions, including TB related illnesses, acute and chronic CVAs, orthopaedic cases including acute and long-term amputee patients. I worked in the burns unit for both adults and paediatrics. I gained experience in the ICU and the NICU.
in 2017, I began working full time in the private sector,. I am currently employed at the same practice. I have treated sport injuries, musculoskeletal injuries, CVAs, chronic pain patients, chest related conditions and post-operative rehabilitation patients.I see alot of spinal conditions and nerve related injuries.I treat paediatrics, adults and the elderly in the rooms setting, or during home visits. I currently provide services to two retirement homes.
I do locum work on the weekends to gain extra experience in the hospital setting. I see a variety of post-operative conditions in the acute phase, see lots of chest related conditions, and see acute CVAs.
I enjoy treating a patient with a holistic approach as it ensures optimal recovery. I work well in a team environment as I feel I have knowledge to share and so much to learn! I enjoy the multi-disciplinary approach as I feel it assists patients to receive the best care.
I would like to work in London or surrounds to gain knowledge through different physiotherapy approaches therefore making myself the best physiotherapist I can be!
