1.3.2. competency help please

Hi guys,

I'm getting on ok with the portfolio. THe end is in sight but am still struggling with what to do for 1.3.2. Explain and apply Management Principles within the New Zealand Healthcare System. Can anyone help? I'm totally willing to help you with any that you are stuck with, Thanks,

I have read About portfolio and unable to start with. I am confused that whether we have to explain each competency ... like human structure , function, etc.
Pls. help to start with this giant portfolio..

How goes it? I was wondering whether you were aware of the trans Tasman agreement and whether if going the NZ route, one had to work in NZ first before working in OZ. I am going the route of NZ to eventually live in OZ but have heard conflicting theories as to whether I will have to work in NZ first...not a bad thing anyway, before going to OZ.

Any ideas?...anyone else with ideas?

In answer to the query 1.3.2, you must bear in mind the wording in the registration information from the NZ physio board, which states you need to show what you have done, what you are doing and what you will do to show competency in each area. Obviously none of us have been working in NZ so we have to reflect, like spud says on anything we read or know about NZ management principles. This reflects the 'will do' and the 'have done' part. Proving autonomous practice is all about showing you are capable of working on your own treating patients in all of the 3 fields of physio...neuro, cardio and MSK. Just pretend to be someone who wants to hire YOU and if you feel you can prove to yourself you know enough about all these areas, then this should satisfy the board. The important part of the entire application is to have all the relevent paperwork, signed where needed and all relevent evidence, an up to date CV and a CPD portfolio. Without these, you can forget about the competencies. DO not write essays. Answer short sharp and under the 3 titles of neuro, cardio and musculo-sk. Then give a reference for each...case studies, references from colleagues/supervisors, etc. Don't panic, read what they want carefully and apply that to each competency.
