If you live in the Toronto area, and are seriously feeling you need help with preparing for the exam, you should consider the course offered by the Alliance.

If anyone has been on this course, maybe they could post feedback as to how useful it is!

Wow, Hello everyone.

I am a Canadian in the UK. Learning Physio.

I am just going to put this out there in case anyone every comes along this.

I am going to be writing the 2 components of the exam come March-August of 2009.

So if anyone wants to study during those times in Vancouver, there you go.

And to everyone else all around the world struggling, thanks for sharing and making the efforts, and I can share everyones feelings of anxiety!

I am a UK qualified PT did the written exam. The exam was so random it did not encompass a quarter of physiotherapy, and I am very unset and disheartened with physiotherapy governing from the Alliance.

I took the Alliance course they offered before the exam, and it was the biggest waste of time. Just more money down the drain and into their pockets.

It was great to have sample questions given, however not able to be allowed to take these back was unfair.

Everyone has done multiple choice questions in some time, however this 'best possible answer' business is awful. People who are good PT and know their stuff can get tripped up with these. Being from the UK we are not prepped for these types of questions and I know Canadian grads are, which makes the whole process unfair.

The Alliance need to really look into helping out internationally trained students more instead of scaring them all away.

Latest NEWS: Effective January 1, 2008

the Canadian Alliance of Physiotherapy Regulators will implement new Credentialing Standards.
Applications received up to and including December 31, 2007 will be assessed based on the current Credentialing Standards.
All applications received beginning January 1, 2008 will be assessed under the new Credentialing Standards.

The Alliance has been involved in the business of credential review since 1992.
Three comprehensive reviews and studies - Best Practices I (1995), Best Practices II (1997) and Best Practices III (2002) have shaped the program over the last 12 years.

Each study has evaluated The Alliance’s process of assessing the education and
qualifications of internationally educated physiotherapists, with a view to improving
access within a framework set by the standards of professional practice.
The fourth study - Best Practices IV – was completed in 2007 and was essentially an evaluation of the credentialing program including such features as the program goals, objectives, standards, procedures, infrastructures and service delivery.
The new Credentialing Standards that will be implemented in 2008 are based upon
the recommendations of the Best Practices IV study.

Are you stressed about Canada's Physiotherapy Competency Exam?

PT Health recognizes this anxiety and offers a PREP COURSE for the practical component of the PCE.

I am an instructor for the Prep Course developed by PT Health to prepare non-Canadian-educated graduates for the clinical component of the PCE. I am aware that the success rate for foreign trained physiotherapists is much lower than Canadian-educated graduates, seeing as Canadian students are trained to be successful on the PCE throughout their academic curriculum. If you would like to get an appreciation for what the PCE is like, the mock exam provides you with a similar experience, in regards to the content, stresses and expectations of the actual practical exam. Candidates receive individual feedback on their strengths and weaknesses, along with suggestions for areas of improvement.

The course will be run in October 2008, which is intended to train Physiotherapist candidates for the November 2008 practical component of the PCE.

I am going to be writing my PCE in September 08 and the Practical (hopefully) in November 08, if you are around town before then and in the study mode maybe we could work something out!
