Cartilage damage, knee therapy
I injured my knee while bmx racing, I landed hard on the cap which caused 'water on the knee'.
I went to physio and the therapist used a suction machine that also tingled, what is this machine? Also I was told cartilage takes the longest to heal, is there estimates of how long before I am fully healed or atleast not limited? Thank you for the replys. |

Re: Cartilage damage, knee therapy
The machine that you have described seems to sound like interferential therapy. It is the tingling feeling that is having the effect, which is stimulating the nerves.
The cartilage in the knee very rarely heals. Only the perimeters of the cartlage have a blood supply so would be able to heal, but again tend not too. As long as there is no locking/giving way of the knee you will be able to use strengthing exercises to resolve the problem. |

Re: Cartilage damage, knee therapy
Hi,
The machine you are talkin about seems to be IFT (interferential therapy), used for pain modulation. Before we move ahead about how long it wud take for it to heal, i would like to know what is the problem that ur facing right now and how old is ur injury and what improvement do u feel in ur knee since injury. does it get locked? is it painful?, or is it swollen? what is ur main problem right now . |
