re: muscle cramp

A good article "Skeletal muscle cramps during exercise" The physician and Sportsmedicine 1999 Nov Vol27 iss12 P 109. The conclusion is cause of cramping not well understood but may have something to with abnormal spinal control of motor neuron activity, particularily when a muscle contracts in a shortened position, risk factors include muscle fatigue and poor stretching habits, they advise treatement consists of mainly passive stretching and supposrtive measures as needed. A lto of traditional theories have been questioned ie environment and hydration levels.
