Rehabilitation protocol following Tendo Achilles repair.

Could someone briefly outline for me the rehabilitation protocol following Tendo Achilles repair? I generally see neurological patients and those with joint replacements. My patient is in her 50's and has Rheumatoid Arthritis which had a significant contribution to her injury.I would appreciate a reply ASAP as I will be seeing her in a few days! She has been in an anterior tibial slab nwb for the past 8 weeks and is now allowed to progress her wb status to fwb.

re: Rehabilitation protocol following Tendo Achilles repair.

Speak to the surgeon to get their individual protocols.... generally it is very slow and careful rehab.... initially isometric strengthening, generally the surgeons do not like to stretch the TA until 12 weeks post-op, and then it is a progressive streching and strengthening programme.
