re: muscle energy

I hope you receive this information in time. Muscle Energy is a treatment approach devised by an Osteopath (DO) in the USA, Fred Mitchell (Junior I think). The technique is of a nature or how it is termed. The use of precise positioning (placing the joint in a neutral position)and a series of gentle contractions of a synergist muscle to effect a decrease in tone within the hypertonic agonist muscle to normalise tone and motion within a joint. The technique works at the alpha-gamma loop level effecting decrease in sensitivity in the intrafusal fibres. The technique is an excellent means of correcting pelvic and spinal lesions.
If you want some more information go to www.bearonline.com. which is the home page for a friendly osteopath Dr Loren 'Bear' Rex. He has a question and answer page that will get you more information. Good luck
