I am currently in my second year of a MSc Sports Injury and Therapy, and I am very interested in Physiotherapy in the Sports Field, therefore to complete my eduaction i really fancy doing a PhD in Sports Physiotherapy, this is where I am asking for your help...!

Does anyone know any institutions which offer Sports Physiotherapy at PhD level, I am based in Manchester in the UK, but would like to know of any institutions around the world. furthermore if anyone has completed a PhD in Sports physiotherapy then your comments would be very much appreciated!

Im from Australia, as I understand it in my country PhD do not include a course work component, thus you cant classify a PhD to a particular field. PhDs (at least here in Australia) are conducted in a field of interest held by the PhD student and their supervisor. In that respect if you are able to find a supervisor who has research interests in aspects of sports physiotherapy im sure you could conduct a PhD in one such area. In Melbourne Australia, Id recommend the University of Melbourne and Latrobe University, as Physiotherapy schools who would have significant physiotherapy research groups.

I would recommenr Sydney Uni as it has an outstand world class biomechanics and applied physiology dept. They work day in and day out with athletes of all abilities.

Additionally I believe CArdiff uni in Wales has a good masters program. As mentioned in someone else's email, it really comes down to finding a suitable PHD supervisor with an interest in what you wish to study. David Magee in Edmonton canada offered me a teaching post a few years back and offered to be my supervisor for a masters by research program. This canadian university is also a great place to learn while keeping the costs down..good luck richard
