While it is good to know what tests are available when advocating a test we should know the diagnostic accuracy of the test and for what population of people with shoulder complaints the test applies. I would have to look the diagnostic accuracy of these tests as I don't know them off hand. However while some of these tests have adequate accuracy some a fairly useless, and only serve to cloud your differential diagnosis.

Knowing the sensitivity and specificity of the test is helpful but even more useful is the positive and negative likelihood ratios along with the prevalence of the condition in question in your population as you can then work out the probability that your patient actually has the diagnosis based on your test result.

Do you know how to obtain and appraise the research on these tests?
