who is doing the us treatment in your clinic?

in the clinic when you choose to do an ultrasound therapy session, are u holding the device yourself or you let the patient do it himself?

Due to various contraindications I would not permit the patient to administer the US themselves on my clinic. It opens up a range of issues with potential risk of a claim again you that is not worth bothering about.

It is understood however that anyone can buy an ultrasound unit for themselves and do their own treatment at home so it does pose a contra argument that no special training is really needed to use it. After all it was invented for use on greyhounds after they finished a face and one race horses as well. Don't suppose they can administer it themselves though!

If you have decided the patient needs Ultra Sound YOU GIVE IT.
In my opinion you must never let a patient treat themselves. Your remain responsible at all times as long he/she is being treated by you. Never walk away.

I know it is done, even with other applications, but I do not think anyone of us was taught to leave our patient to do it themselves.
