b.f.m.- & tinetti-test

Dear collegues,

I'm a german physiotherapist who's right now in malaysia to work as a volunteer in a home for children with special needs. this is a project from a german organisation and I stay here till the end of november. I have documentated mith treatments and also made the b.f.m.- and tinetti-test with some students here. But unfortunately I just have them in german. Thus for the next Volunteers from Finnland to use my files I need these tests in english, so that is easier to follow for them.

It would be great if somebody would send me the tests by email or tell me where I can find them in the internet!!

Thanks,

Joshi

Re: b.f.m.- & tinetti-test

Hi Joshi,
could you please elaborate on the tests a bit more in detail?
What is a b.f.m. ?
And the Tinetti, I only know for the elderly clientel, so am not sure whether this is what you are looking for. Tinetti, you can just google. There is heaps of information, including tables etc..
Regrads,

Re: b.f.m.- & tinetti-test

hey,

the b.f.m. is called brunnstrom-fugl-meyer-test and is a test for checking the degree of spasticity. there is a detailed explanation for this test, but I just got it in german.

Tinetti I think works properly for the students I have chosen. but I haven't found a translation so far by google?!?

but I have to say that I spend not that long time for googling that because of too much work to do and less time for searching!?!

thanks for the answer,

joshi

Re: b.f.m.- & tinetti-test

Hi,
just click on the links, you should get some info in English.

I know the Fugl-Meyer Assessment, but only as an assessment tool for balance, motor recovery, range of movement etc. in Stroke patients. For assessment of spasticity, we mainly use the Modified Ashworth Scale.
Try:
De Weerdt WJG, Harrison MA. “Measuring recovery of arm-hand function in stroke patients: a comparison of the Brunnstrom-Fugl-Meyer test and the Action Research Arm test.
Physiotherapy Canada. 1985;37:65-70.
I could find heaps of articles, but not a template or nominative data.

However, I manily work with adolescents and adults. Try posting your question in the paediatric section of this forum, maybe you get some more help there.

Good luck,
regards,
Fyzzio

Question Re: b.f.m.- & tinetti-test

Hey Fyzzio,

unfortunately there wasn't any link to be clicked at. I tried to google it, but haven't found the b.f.m.-test or a describtion of it!?!

You got the b.f.m.-test to send it to me as a pdf? or write down the link again, maybe??

That'd be great!!

Greez',

Joshi
