Ligament damage in ankle making whole leg ache!
Hiya,
Brief history - Blame it on the boogie - I fell on a dancefloor and went over on my ankle. X Rays showed it wasn't broken, but I'd damaged ligaments. I was on crutches for about 4 days, then tried my best to walk on it! It was sooo sore, worse than ankle twists I have done before. After having it elevated, putting it to the floor was like dipping my foot in a bowl of boiling hot oil! Really strange sensation! 4 weeks on, and I am still getting some wierd almost sparkly or prickly sensations, and I am getting a dull ache in my knee and thigh - like growing pains or when you've got cold in the joint. I have been walking and swimming on ankle but it does feel tight on the inside, outside, and up the tendon at the back of my ankle. Should I get this re-checked or should I keep trying physio? I have been applying arnica, ice packs, taking arnica tablets and applying ibuprofen gel, and the bruising and most of the swelling has gone now. I have been tipping it up and down and drawing circles with my toes Advice welcome. P.s - don't seem to be able to attach pic, but it was very swollen and even my toes went navy! I was rather proud of it as dance injuries go. |
