One leg longer than other - cycling

When I look at my legs I notice that my left leg is slightly shorter than the other. Over the years, I've had various problems with my left knee probably in large part due to the difference in length.

Anyway, I was wondering about the wisdom of cycling with a small extension on my left cycling shoe. I feel this would balance out the leg and make my cycling style smoother. At the moment, I can feel a jerkiness in the motion because my shorter left leg pulls down the left side of my body as I ride.

Any ideas? Thanks.

First thing to do is have someone check if you truly have a leg length discrepancy. It is unlikley but can happen. Mostly there are misdiagnosed and are a pelvic alignment or spinal deviation issue.
