Suction techniques
I am currently updating the nursing suctioning standard for our S.C.B.U. At present it mentions rotating the catheter during withdrawal and applying intermittent suction. It was my understanding that this was no longer necessary if a catheter with a side port is used. Does anyone have any evidence either for or against these practices within paediatrics?
