re: Neck supports for those very floppy heads?

Any ideas on how to support the heads of our very floppy CP kids. Having ++problems with seating, transport ... with my little 3year to 7 year old CPquads. Leckey head supports give forehead support only and work in some seating, but allow upper cervical flexion. How do we keep their heads up esp. in a car seat? Parens do not take the child out for fear of hurting his neck every time they step on the brakes. Please post some ideas.

Can't help you exactly but have had a lot of experience in treating floppy heads in the neurology department. Why not repost this question in the neurology section.

Have you tried a soft collar?

hi, I have had decent results using a soft collar,obviously coupled with treatment to help neck control. A good reclining seat can have gravity assist in preventing the head getting tossed around, keeping it in its head support.

try the front part of a SOMI brace - now out of favour with neurosurgeons here. Or ask your favourite technical officer to make a prototype. i find them great - but not if there is increased tone.
