Acute low back pain admission criteria

We work in a rural setting and are looking into formulating clearer guidelines re: admission criteria for patients with acute low back pain - to prevent unnecessary inpatient stays.

I would be really grateful for details of any current policies/protocols anyone has in place regarding criteria for admission to hospital with acute low back pain or recent articles/guidelines that you think would help our situation.

Thank you!
