reducing Lenght of stay after total hip or knee replacement

Dear colleges
I stumbled on an article about reducing the length of hospital stay after a total hip or knee replacement. The author of this article was worried about the consequences for the rehabilitation of the patient. Reducing the time spent in hospital could have negative consequences, For instance higher discharge levels towards rehab.
So I decided to look a little further and came across more articles with the same concerns. But I also found articles claiming not to have had any negative experiences, only positive, Higher functional independent levels at discharge, lower % was discharge towards rehab, ect.
My question to you is the following

- do you have any experience with a program reducing length of hospital stay after total hip or knee replacements
- If so, how was/ is this done ( for instance by using a clinical pathway ?).
- Did you yourself participate in the clinical trial or did you threat a patient after participating in such a program
- If you work with a program reducing length of stay, How long is the average LOS for a patient at your hospital
- Do achieved functional levels determine the day of discharge
- How do you think reducing Length of Hospital stay has negative or positive consequences. Please explain you answer.
- How did your patients experience the program?

I Hope you can help me with this. Please excuse me for any mistakes I made. I’m not from an English speaking country.
