post sprain ankle stiffness

I have a patient who had sprain his ankle 3 months ago. All his s/s gone except he c/o stiffness feeling once he stand for more than 30 mins (that's his job requirement). His range is normal compare with good side.

I have tried mobilization of the ankle and subtalar joint for 2 sessions. The result is now good.

Do anyone have any suggestion on this type of problem?

Sounds to me like you have done the right thing. Often some simple Wikipedia reference-linktalocrural joint mobilisations in different ranges of dorsiflexion work wonders. Remember that there is a roll and slide of the joint during dorsiflexion and the slide is often impeeded following ankle sprain. I would suggest that right now the stiffness after 30 mins is typical at this time and that time is probably all he needs in relation to that.

Of course you can make up any manner of proprioceptive exercises for him to try whilst standing for long periods of time. If that's his job then maybe use it for rehab as well
