Rehabilitative Ultrasound Imaging of Skeletal Muscles for Evaluation and Biofeedback:

Ultrasound imaging of muscle is a potential addition to the range of clinical techniques used in physiotherapy practice. It is stressed that this branch of musculoskeletal imaging is distinct from diagnostic imaging to examine ligament, tendon and muscle injuries, for which different skills and training are needed. Its intended clinical uses are for evaluation and biofeedback for re-educating muscle function, which requires knowledge of functional anatomy. The aims of this one-day introductory course are to enable the participant to: . Understand the basic physics and safety implications of ultrasound imaging . Obtain an image of suitable quality . Interpret scans to identify the anatomical features of muscles . Perform a clinical application e.g. for assessment and/or biofeedback . Achieve a basic understanding of appropriate scanner and probe specifications The course does not equip a person with the skill or experience to begin scanning patients, which require a period of practise to establish competency and reliability. Who is this course aimed at ? The day would be ideal for any physiotherapist wishing to explore and improve their understanding and use of ultrasound scanning as an adjunct to their current practice. This course costs £195, which will be fully refunded if an ultrasound machine is purchased from Pie Data up to 90 days after the course.
