www.physiouk.co.uk It is one thing to know the basic biology of pain, it is another thing to share that knowledge with patients. This evening aims to help bridge this gap. By taking an interactive 'conversational' approach, Lorimer focuses on real world explanations and their biological justifications. Key principles of modern pain biology and the important recent advances in our understanding of the biology of pain are initially presented. Lorimer then progresses through several real world case studies, demonstrating and discussing the challenges one might face, and the methods one might use to biologise patients' experiences.Participants will have the opportunity to share their own challenges for biologising pain in the real world. Problem solving can then be offered both from Lorimer’s research and clinical experiences and other delegate at the evening. The evening is designed to enrich delegates with management strategies and knowledge which they can integrate into their specific area, thereby enhancing outcomes. Who is this course aimed at ? It would be excellent for any health professional who deals with patients in pain, both acute and especially chronic pain. It is especially useful for those who explain the causes of and function of pain as part of the therapeutic process. If you have heard Explain Pain or Pain and the Brain this evening will serve to contextualise that information better.
