4 Days(32 Hrs) Hands-on Workshop on Muscle Energy Techniques(MET), Myofascial Release

This is a 4 days(32Hrs) Hands-on Workshop on Muscle Energy Techniques( MET), Myofascial Release Techniques( MFRT) and High Velocity Thrust Techniques( HVT) is targeted for both Physiotherapy students and Clinicians keeping in view of the recent trends on hands on skills. The work presented at this course is an integration of concepts advocated by Mitchell, Janda, Gibbons,Tehan, Lewit, Travel, Simons, Chaitow and the clinical experience of the presenting author. Special emphasis is given on Clinical reasoning and Evidence Based Practice. Dates: 24th January- 27th January,2008 (Th,Fr,Satand Sunday) (Kolkata,India) Time : 9am-5pm CONTENTS OF THE WORKSHOP Introduction:3 Hrs Hand posture and skills, Contact points of manipulators hand, Flicking Techniques ( Triceps flick, Double triceps flick, Wrist flick), Thrusts( Pectoralis thrust, Shoulder arm pull thrust, Body drop), Concept of somatic dysfunction, Rhythmic Techniques( articulation and springing, Low velocity stress techniques, Modifying factors in techniques.Muscle Energy Techniques( Fred Mitchell's concept)-10Hrs Introduction to MET . Definitions of MET .Mechanism . Patterns of function and dysfunction( Vladimir Janda concept of postural and Phasic muscles) . Methods of using MET . Sequence of assessment and treatment of Muscular dysfunctions. MET and joint treatments.Myofascial Release Techniques -09Hrs Definition of MFR, Classification( Direct & Indirect, Intrinsic & Extrinsic), Description of fascia [Basic techniques (Feedback, Stretch, Hold, Release, End-feel)], concept of postural and phasic muscles( Vladimir Janda's concept), MFR treatment concepts [ POE(T)], Steps to MFR, MFR Techniques( Stroke release, strum release, Focus strum, Dural tube stretch and combination stretch.High Velocity Thrust Techniques-10Hrs Introduction about HVT, Cavitation mechanism, Indications, Contraindications. HVT Techniques for cervical spine, Thoracic spine , Lumbar spine and Sacroiliac joint.
