Re: Heel pain
hi dear, at the outset i do agree with "linbin" regarding a detailed assessment as i m sure you will agree there are quite a few conditions that can present with heel pain. well, i do agree with "sana zehra" that in normal practice the plantar fascitis is the commonest cause. regarding the line of management as far as my protocol is concerned is 1. counseling 2. baseline, try NSAIDS 3. couple it with pulsed followed by continuous US therapy 4. self stretching techniques, especially to done in the morning 5. foot wear management; silicone insoles, wedges etc 6. contrast bath techniques, in the evenings 7. if severely painful & persistent discuss option of local steroid with pros/cons 8. surgical intervention if gross beaking or prominent bony spur on x-ray. try out and i am sure you will be successful. all the best thomas |
