Hi all, I tore my cruciate ligament in my right knee playing netball around 3 and a half years ago, I had an operation on the NHS in which they removed the ACL and left me with nothing and my knee bent out again despite months of strengthening the first time I tried to jump. I went to a private knee specialist who wiggled my knee backwards and forwards and declared it knackered! :-) I had a full ACL reconstruction 2 years ago using my hamstring as a graft and had great physio and have been back to almost normal with my knee stronger than it has ever been. I do a lot of running, sport and am back to netball. It is sometimes slightly sore after a particularly hard session but nothing that bothers me. However last night I landed hard on it playing netball, I landed with a completely straight leg which jarred my knee backwards. I had to leave the court as couldn't put much weight on it and sat in ice immediately. I have full range of movement in regards to bending and straightening but it is very sore this morning at the back of my leg, kind of behind my knee at the top of my calf, walking is sore. I have it raised and am icing it 20 mins in each hour. What I would like some advice on is that I am running a 10k on Sunday which is 4 days away and wonder whether I should keep resting it or try to move it more and more. I am resting completely today but had 2 more short runs planned for tomorrow and Friday. Any advice? Thank you in advance.

I began working with my client in October, she is athletic and very slim other than her tummy that was saggy and hanging down, anterior pelvis with a rotation as right ASIS was anterior to left. She had tried exercise to tone her tummy but everything affected her lower back/sacrocilliac areas. Three c sections, children are 6, 5 & 1 the youngest is a very big boy that she carries around too much! lower back problems began after first child and had treatment from physio and osteopath. She has been attending weekly group Pilates and private sessions 2/3 per month. Pelvic stability is much better and she is feeling much stronger, abs are also looking more toned. All good other than the pelvic instability issue is still a puzzle, she quite clearly has unstable SIJ still as some side lying exercises cause a shooting sensation down the back of the leg, apparently not nerve muscular, the exercise was doing side lying on reformer in turn out with heel on foot bar,, right was good activated glute nicely, could not do on left. Although pelvic stability is loads better she still struggles to engage lower abs, I sometimes work with a cushion under tailbone. She also finds it really difficult to stand on right leg in a balance, this I found confusing as the right is the stronger, however she was leaning into the right leg which made it impossible to sustain, I did identify this but she was not able to overcome.

I hope this is enough information, i can't seem to work out what is going on in the pelvic area, how do I properly identify where the weaknesses are and where the instability is. How would you work with this lady?

Thank you in advance.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

Hi there
I have inflammation/fluid in the ECU and first extensor compartment. It occurred due to overuse and overcompensation for my left wrist (tenosynovitis). It started back in June last year, and I was given physio exercises which didn't settle things until I went on holidays for a month. I came back to work and it seemed to be ok for about 3 months. My workload peaked, I was typing more and mousing along with writing notes and my right hand got worse.

I'd like to know if anyone can tell me about the success rates for cortisone injections (ultrasound guided) particularly in wrist joints, and will it be harmful if I've already had one in my other wrist? Of course following cortisone I would expect to continue my hand strength rehab and remedial massage to get rid of the trigger points.

Many thanks for your advice
Angie

It is not visible to the eye but it is more noticeable after walking around for a bit or after doing exercise. It isnt painful at rest but can be a bit tender after walking

The tendon in question i am unable to feel on my other knee so it seems like it is inflamed and it nearer the surface.

Other symptoms are tightness in the region and now and again i get a rubbing sensation as if this tendon is rubbing over something

Any ideas?

Hello :)

I would like to study physiotherapy in western europe - and I find it really hard to decide in which country :) I speak German, English, Dutch, a little bit of French, Swedish and Spanish - and I love learning languages anyway - and I also still have time before I can study , so that`s not a problem!
When I just consider the countries themselves, I would like to study in Italy or Spain...But I red that the education there would not be as good as for example in the Netherlands or in Ireland? I also red that the physiotherapists in these countries have to work very dependant on the doctors and do not make any diagnosis on their own? Is this true?
Do you think I will have better chances to find work if I study in a country with "a better image"? Would I have trouble later if I don`t learn how to work autonomous if I want to work somewhere else later? Or is it just important to get a Bachelor?

Any feedback/advice would be greatly appreciated!
