Why are physio's rarely found in the position of hospital director?

Hi All, I have just found this feature on the forum and am checking it out. I would perhaps like to discuss a blog about why physio's are rarely if ever becoming hospital directors when nurses seem to often get to that role. In fact I just had a patient who is looking for a director for a new hospital and he said that he wants someone with a nursing background. I challenged him as to why. And more than the understanding of the complexity of keeping an army of nurses under control I think perhaps they also save some money by getting more senior nurses into these roles. Any comments?
