Re: Elbow swelling and pain

It might well be a bursitis. If is non-painful and spontaneous it should just resolve on it's own. If your elbow had a restriction in its normal movement then perhaps you should have it checked for fracture or gout.

Some images are shown below of anatomy, x-ray and ultrasound sonography. In some cases the GP might drain a large swelling although this often returns.
