I would enlist the help initially of a clinical psychologist, perhaps in a family meeting with youself and the wife, but without him. Then things can be discussed openly before deciding on whether a course of some type of "behavioural modification strategy" might help.
I would imagine there might be some medication adjustment/additional that might also assist. Please do keep us informed. 8o
