I received my Master's degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Brighton, UK in 2011. This course used a Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach ensuring that the training was comprehensive, self directed and at all times evidence-based. I feel this training has given me the skills to be able to tackle any area of Physiotherapy with the right resources.
Following my graduation, I worked in a small Private Practice Clinic in Ireland where I had the opportunity to expand my skill-set to include Pilates, Acupuncture and dry needling, manual therapy, biomechanical assessment and orthotic prescription, women's health and paediatric care. I was also the main practitioner involved in opening up a sister clinic, successfully building up a thriving client base within 6 months.
At the end of 2014 I moved to Kuwait to join a large physiotherapy team in a private multidisciplinary clinic managing a busy caseload of up to 16 patients per day including orthopaedics, sports injuries, chronic pain, women's health and neuro rehab. This position has helped me to improve my clinical skills as well as my time management and treatment efficiency. I also had the opportunity to take on the role of stand-in Physiotherapy Manager to cover a 5 month extended leave looking after a team of 11 Physiotherapists. This has been a great opportunity for me to improve my management skills including communication, problem solving, leadership, motivation and delegation.
I returned to Ireland in July 2016 where I worked as a Senior MSK and Women's Health Physio in private practice until June 2017 when I started work in the Coombe Maternity Hospital as a full-time Women's Health Physiotherapist.
