I am a an enthusiastic and conscientious worker with a drive to succeed. These personality traits have enabled me to focus and achieve my goals thus far. I have read two degrees, Physiotherapy at Cardiff University and Exercise and Sports Science at the University of Exeter. In addition to these I am an I.T.E.C qualified masseuse and American College of Sports Medicine qualified Personal Trainer.
I am committed to learn and develop as shown by my continual drive to build on my knowledge and professional skills. The function and dysfunction of the human body has always interested me, and led me to read Exercise and Sports Science at Exeter. This degree and the experience of University helped develop my communication skills and discover the career path that I have chosen. It encompassed several modules that analysed the biomechanics, mechanisms, physiology and psychology of injury all of which dovetail neatly into a career as a musculoskeletal physiotherapist.
I have an open approach to new ideas, and a proven ability to think laterally about a problem and comprehend and analyse data as a tool in support for or against an argument/treatment. I am keen to develop and expand on the experience and knowledge I have gained thus far by continuing to embrace evidence-based practice, to learn from others and through experience via reflective practice.
I find working with clients/patients and helping them achieve their functional and or sporting goals enjoyable and rewarding. I believe that the success to achieving these goals is to treat everyone as an individual and think outside of standard protocols, continually using the latest research and drawing on experience, adapting programs that fit into people’s lifestyles whilst addressing their specific needs.
I am particularly interested in gaining valuable experience in the musculoskeletal field, as I find this area the most rewarding and internally motivating.
I am currently studying the Polestar Rehabilitation Pilates course and have recently completed the Sarah Keys - 5 stages of a degenerative spine. I am in the process of applying for my perminant physiotherapy registration and have 6 months left on my temporary NSW registration.
